  • Firemint – Fresh breath for your Firefox Browser

The other day I was on Mint Pages looking at a member’s WIP and happened to see an “Firemint” which described it to be a firefox plugin.

So I googled for it and found the link for Firemint. It’s current features include:

    • Show your Stats in the status-bar of your browser
    • Updates every 5 minutes (or up to ever 60 minutes)
    • Quick link to your Mint
    • Right-click on main stats to view other information

I installed it the other day, but honestly, I have yet to get it working with my Mint 2 installation. I have a feeling it has to do with the password; I’m having some problems with Mint right now, so I’m probably going to just backup the database, and then wipe out the directory to put up a clean install. Though I hope I don’t end up boogering something up, but if I end up starting fresh, oh well!

  • Money needs to grow on trees.

The new design for atourworst.org is coming along perfectly. I’m working on a few kinks right now, and then it’s off to work on how the pages, comments, and others look as well. I really want to get more customization done, so eventually when I release it as a theme, most of the work is already done. Though since I’ve never truly created a theme before (aside from tweaking a current one and essentially almost making it mine) so it’ll be a nice project for myself.

This weekend was pretty nice. Ended up going over to Mark’s house on Friday night and just played around on his Wii, and went to Denny’s for a late (late, late) dinner, or maybe it was an early (early, early) breakfast? Either way, I had a nice time as expected. Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon working on the new design and watching movies. Mark came over after 7pm and we picked up Chinese food, watched some of Big Fat Liar, The Prestige, and American Beauty. He ended up staying the night, but it wasn’t like it was much of a surprise.

I kind of like waking up wrapped around him. It’s nice. Didn’t do much of anything today.. We woke up around 2:30pm, after going to sleep around 4:30am. Ate some of the leftover Chinese food, played some N64 and Wii games.. and watched the last 40 minutes or so of the Prestige with my mom. Then he left me here to rot with boredom. Or not, but I can exaggerate.

  • Why I love TNT and TBS on the weekends.

Lately TNT has been the only station I’ve been keeping on whenever the tv is on. I usually end up watching Charmed from 3-5pm, Law and Order after that, and usually Without A Trace. After that I’ll change to either Spike or A&E where I’ll watch CSI (Spike) or CSI: Miami (A&E). That’s my tv schedule right there. I hardly ever watch any new seasons of tv, unless it’s 24 which is my monday 8pm show, or Thursday when I watch ER at 9pm.

Oh, but I can’t forget on Monday, the best day of the week. I get to watch X-Files (on TNT) from 11pm to usually 4 or so am. Yeah, I know, it’s horrible, but I love that show.

The best is the weekends though. TNT and TBS usually start airing all of their movies on Friday’s starting around 5-6pm, and that’s typically where I’ll end up (in front of the tv) if I don’t go out, or do anything when I wake up on the weekends.

Oh tv how I love thee.

  • Get paid to review my post, and join in on the fun.

I know you’ve seen my comments on various websites about how I felt about Payperpost, but I’ve felt like earning a few bucks, as well as getting up to 10 posts so I can add a second blog of mine. So anyway, I’ve been out of the loop lately, and just found out that people can get paid for reviewing posts of mine. I thought that was pretty amazing, considering it’s something easy and simple that doesn’t require much effort to be honest.

The new program of theirs is called “Review My Post,” which allows new members to sign up under a referral, and their first opportunity with PPP would/could be to review their referral’s posts. The new member is then paid (after their post is approved and meet requirements) for their review, and their referrer gets paid for that new member. Seems simple enough, doesn’t it? It’s a perfect blog marketing tool that will help increase traffic to websites, as well as earning money for you.

  • Virb Invites

I have nine 5 invites left for Virb. If you want one, comment letting me know (and make sure your comment uses the e-mail address you want it sent to.) They’ve been sitting there collecting dust so I might as well just give them away.

    —–

I’m currently working on a new theme to put up, so hopefully I can get rid of this annoying one. I’m tired of how dark and bland it is. I might even turn the one I’m working on into a wordpress them after I finish it and get it up on my site; We’ll see though.

  • Finally I have some motivation.

I think my design block was mainly because of not having Holdfire completed and now that it’s all done, I feel refreshed. So I’m starting a new theme for my website. I think I might even just set it up so that it can be downloaded by others to go ahead and use. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for awhile, so hey, why not? Now that I’ve got the other site out of the way, i can stress over this.

Still waiting back on Barnes and Noble. I’ve got a 2nd interview this Thursday with Cingular, but I received an automated e-mail yesterday that I need to have clarified so tomorrow I have to give them a call.

Saw Ghost Rider on Friday with Mark. That’s pretty much the extent of my weekend. I know, exciting.

I am also thinking about going to the 133rd Kentucky Derby in May, though I think I’d go at the end of April so I can catch Thunder over Louisville, the fireworks display which starts opening week. Though I know that homes and hotels are already booked, and I doubt any of my friends down there would let me crash at their pad (especially if I bring along people.) So I’m contemplating a few ideas right now, and that’s taking my parent’s RV down there and partying the fuck up. Of course we would have to find a campground, but it’s not that hard, it’s fucking Louisville, KY!

And holy crap, I was not expecting the KD website to look like that. I love it.

  • My WIP is no longer a WIP! I’m excited.

    redesign
    Holdfire.net Redesign: Complete!

For the first time in the past few months, I’ve managed to work non-stop on a design. Not only that but I managed to finish it. I’m not sure what the deal is, but I can never really get into a project for myself. Sure, I can get a client’s site done in about a week or so, but my own? It’ll take months. I started to redesign Holdfire back in September. Since then I’ve gone through almost 5 versions. Today (or yesterday?) I finally finished the redesign for the site.

Mark helped me out a lot with it tonight. He gave me tips on the WIP, things to change, add and edit. A good portion of it I finished while he was asleep, so I went through all of the pages again to make sure things looked okay. If you could do me a huge favor and just do a quick run through of it. Let me know if there’s a page that doesn’t validate, a link that’s broken (the cpanel/whm link is the only one that is not finished right now) or a form that doesn’t submit. I’ll take any constructive criticism, comments, compliments or complains. 😛

Though some things to consider: I have yet to add a few modules to the index, so it’s not going to be as bare. There’s also a few other images I plan on adding here and there, as well as switching around the header/navigation. Essentially what you see right now, is pretty much how it’ll look aside from a few tweaks I’ll implement later on.

I’m debating whether or not to start integrating the client control panel I’m sort of sleepy. But it’s more so the fact that my nose and toes are frozen.

  • Shut Down Day

Do you think you would be able to survive without logging onto a computer for 24 hours? Shutdownday.org is marking March 24th, as the day to do the unthinkable. Shutting down your computer, getting away from it.. for.. twenty four hours.

I marked that I would do it. We’ll see how that goes. I know I’ll have to make plans for that day, to make sure I don’t try to sneak out. If I’m preoccupied, I won’t even feel the need to get on!

  • I think my boyfriend is the greatest.

You know what really kills me and just kind of makes my heart melt…? When Mark has this shit eating grin on his face, and I just know it’s because he tore ass. I know that sounds perversely strange, but it seriously is kind of really cute.. but.. really stinky. I don’t know, maybe I’m just strange. Regardless, it’s been almost two full months of being a girlfriend. I really like being his.

This week has been a fantastic week. My interview with the ASM for Barnes and Noble was perfect. It lasted about 45 minutes, and it was definitely one of the better interviews I’ve had. I have a very bubbly personality, and I tend to talk a lot, so that went well with him. I always have this tendency to be able to get someone to laugh, smile, and get more personal an interview then you’d expect.

I’m not exactly sure when I’ll find out if the Cafe Manager spot is mine, but I have his card to call him. I believe it’ll be salaried pay, which is a first for me. I’m used to hourly wages. I would really like for the pay to be at least $24,000-26,000 a year. The position does harbor a lot of responsibilities (essentially I would be the “store manager” for the Starbucks if it were stand alone. I’d handle schedules, interviewing possible employees to work under me, cash management, inventory, waste management, etc etc.) which is why I think I should be getting paid more then $11.50/hour. The work week is 40 hours, and benefits start after 60 days. I didn’t ask about the discount, but I assume there would be, since I’ll be considered a Barnes and Noble employee and not a Starbucks employee. Since the store I was originally applied for is opening in May, but since that spot is filled, I would not start work until late March/Early April.

The interview for Cingular went even better then my interview with B&N. It lasted about 50 minutes, and the manager and I really hit it off well. It was another down-to-earth interview, and again I was able to get on a personal level with her to kind of show her who I am, and how my personality is like with other people. She said pending experience (which I have from Best Buy–thank god) the lowest pay I would start off with would be $11/hour, including commission. There is no cap for commission so however much I would bring in, is how much would attach to my paycheck. All that obviously pending taxes, but she said on average her full time employees bring home over $1,000 (after taxes) a week. My position would just be an associate, and full time with benefits after 90 days. It was my first of two interviews, but about 2 hours after the interview, she called me back to let me know that the district manager would be at another store next week, and that whenever he got back to her about the location and time, she’d let me know. So not even thirty minutes later and she called me back to let me know that on Thursday I will go in at 3pm to talk to him for a few minutes. Looks like I managed to snag this job.

But I do have a decision to make. If Barnes and Noble will not pay me more then $12/hour, there is no way I will take the offer. The drive is an hour long (with light traffic), 30 miles one way. Each week I’d end up driving about 400 miles. I get 200 miles to the tank, and with gas prices right now, I’m looking at spending about $60 a week for gas just to get to work. The Cingular job might only be $11/hour, but the drive is a mile long, a mere five minutes. If I don’t drive anywhere else, except from home-to-work, a tank of gas could possibly last about 4 weeks (or 30 days.) So I’ve definitely got my work cut out for me.

Either way these jobs have a lot of potential and nice pay.

  • I’m bored of this look already.

Time to whip up a new theme here. I’m already tired of the one I have right now.

Interview with Barnes and Noble went quite amazing. Cingular interview today at 2pm.
