I’m almost done with the new redesign for Holdfire Network. Some of the new things have been reseller packages, upgraded shared plans, the removal of one [unpopular] shared plan, and a HUGE Valentine’s Day promotion. It’s going to be really awesome, at least I hope so.

Hopefully with the new design and promotion, I can bring it a lot more clients and get things rolling again. For the past few months, things have been VERY slow, and it’s kind of sad. I like getting new clients and watching new customers come in from word of mouth.

Once this design is done, I’m sure I’ll be in the mood to promote for it again. I know that’s one thing I haven’t really done lately, and well hopefully I can change that.

I’m in the mood to broaden my music horizon, so with that being said.

Feel free to even include something in general, and not just from this year. I’m looking for just about anything in regards to music (though I’m more fond of punk, hardcore, indie, hip hop) so definitely recommend that local band you’re obsessed with, or even some obscure band from another country whose lyrics you can’t decipher because you don’t know their language (eg: Sigur Ros.)

Around 9am this morning I woke up to see large and thick snowflakes falling, on top of what looked like at least 2″ of snow that had already accumulated. It was kind of disheartening because I wanted to leave early to go to the Pontiac dealership to fill out the application and whatever else needed to be done.

So I waited around for a few hours hoping that by then the snow would’ve been decently plowed and a bit “safer” to drive. Well, I was pretty wrong. I left here around 1:45pm, and it took me about 4 minutes to drive three blocks to the main road. The problem was that my street had not been plowed AT ALL.

It took me another 40 minutes to get to another intersection, which usually takes me about 15 minutes. The streets were ridiculous to the point where I didn’t feel like driving all the way out to Oak Lawn, and NOT get the job. It didn’t get any better until I was about 5-10 miles south of their building.

I’m not really sure how it well, though I do feel confident enough in it. I just was a bit nervous (as I usually get during an interview of sorts) and had a tendency to ramble on about stuff that was irrelevant and unnecessary. Though one of the questions he asked was if I knew anything about designing websites, and if I had any websites of my own.

I swear I felt my eyes glisten and glitter after he asked that, and I then proceeded to go ahead and give him atourworst.org and holdfire.net. I had a few other sites I should have mentioned but my mind drew a blank after I gave him those two. Hopefully I can get this job–It’s something more geared towards what I want my career to consist of. It would also be perfect experience for me too.

Time to get some aspirin. All the driving gave me a major headache.

A few months ago some of my favorite websites have gone down the drain and have succumbed to infesting with their posts with paid advertising (and 100% of them are for Pay Per Post.com). I admit that I joined in on the fun, but since I joined ppp.com, I have only made four posts for them, ever. And yes I did get paid $27.00.) But the point is not to talk about how the company is legit.

I’m tired of going to a website and reading about how I should check out this awesome site for great cellphone deals, or that I should make a zwinky because it helps pass the time. The big give away, is that the links will have the same keywords, and they don’t point to the index. One site I used to love to go to all the time, was maybesomeday.org, but now I don’t even look at the website, and I barely even notice new posts in the feed I have set up for it. Sorry Klumsi, but most of your posts bore the piss out of me simply because YOU aren’t truly posting for fun, you’re posting to make an extra buck.

I recently went to jenn.nu since I was just clicking links for sites to visit, and the moment I saw her first post for HDMI cables I wanted to scream. Then you’ll see every other post is for pay per post as well.

Though I think people are starting to realize how much their website suffers when majority of their posts consist of paid adverts. Samantha‘s website, two-59.org, finally decided to change from posting to earn an extra buck, to actually posting what she wants. For awhile, Krissy.nu was the exact same, to the point where I never visited, nor did I read entries that were created. Though now I just read her posts through pageflakes, because I hate dealing with the constant image/text link ads thrown up all over the place.

Hopefully people will realize how much this effects their sites and somehow create a separate website so that regular [real] viewers don’t have to put up with paid-for-opinions. Either that or use the wordpress functions to hide a category from being displayed.
