  • 12.5 hours of driving, oh my.

Well, I’m here safe and sound. My drive went perfect. I made it up here in 12.5 hours–left at 10:30AM (CST) and arrived in Louisville by 1AM (EST). So far things have been pretty fun. Right now I’m just chilling at my friend PJ’s place since he’s at work, and I didn’t feel like going out since it was storming out and the fact that I’m a cheap bastard. Been playing on his pc, installing different operating systems, since he had wiped his clean the other night. Played around with SUSE, then put on OSX86 but after it finished installing I ended up getting a BO error, and PJ read something about having to use Hiren’s Boot Disc, but since I have no way of getting ahold of him, I never had that issue fixed. So then I wiped it clean and put Vista x64 on it to play with it and see what it’s all about. It’s definitely nice, that’s for sure.

I really like how it’s set up, but I think that SUSE was …. for lack of a vocabulary, pretty. Other than that I’ve really been enjoying myself up here, even though I’ve been here since late Tuesday night. I’m not sure when I’m going to leave because gas is pretty expensive up here ($3.15/gal) and I’m really happy to be up here. I danno though yet, so we’ll see. I might leave here next week, but it’s definitely going to be hard to leave. I’m not looking forward to have to drive back down to Houston. :

Time to get to work on some stuff right now, gotta catch up on the couple of days I wasn’t online. *sigh*

  • Louisvlle, KY be prepared

Tomorrow I leave around 10AM to head back out to Louisville for the week. Gonna hang out with some of my friends back home, and I’ll also be picking up my stuff from Chris’ apartment. About time too, considering I’ve been trying to get it for almost two months now! I’m really excited to visit though, and even though it’s an almost 16 hour drive, I don’t mind it.

I’ll be driving through Texas and Arkansas (better known to me as Arkan’s Ass) during the day, and Tennessee and Kentucky at night, which is quite easy to handle, since those two states are “quick” to get through. Ah, I feel like I’m going to forget something, but my suitcase is already packed and ready to go. I’ve got more then enough underwear to last me a month of not having to worry about wearing the same undies twice! Yeaaah.

In order news, tomorrow I’ll have my dedicated server set up and ready to go. I’m quite excited, because this is definitely a huge milemarker for me and Holdfire Network. I’m probably going to bring my pc with me so I can finish working on the design, but I’ve pretty much got all of the coding done. I just need to add the design section to it, and to add in some graphics, and I’ll be releasing it. I’m excited. Beyond. Excited.

  • Get paid to blog? What?!

I was over at Krissy’s site earlier and read her blog which had a link to payperpost. Which is pretty much easy to understand what it’s about. You post a blog with the specifics that’s required and you earn money for doing so.

So I figured it couldn’t hurt to try this out, whether I got money from it or not, I really wasn’t going to lose much, since it would be something to update my site, though I don’t always want to blog about those opportunities, ya know? Anyway, I’m giving it a try, so I’ll definitely be letting you all know how it goes. If you feel like you want to give it a try, definitely join up, not going to hurt anything. Oh, and they pay you through paypal. 🙂

Right now I’m actually really liking how it’s set up. You chose the opportunity that you want to blog about, and it gives you a few specifics on what to include in the post. You’ve got a minimum amount of words to include, how it should be written (eg: buzz, review), and then you post it. Voila.

  • I think I hallucinated this…

This morning I was jolted awake by my phone ringing. I look at the caller id and see “Chris” calling me. I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming or not, and I debated on answering the call or letting voicemail pick it up. I’m sure I picked it up JUST before VM would’ve kicked on, but then I said “Hello?” and I hear Chris talking. He was telling me that he got my myspace message (because that’s literally the only way to get ahold of this kid, he never answers his phone, and sending postal mail would never work) and asked if I was coming out to Louisville this weekend. I told him no, that I’d be out there this week or weekend, and asked him why. Told me that he was in New Jersey because his grandma’s boyfriend died (which I felt bad for not even saying anything about it, but it didn’t seem right to even try to be somber with him, I always get angry now.)

So he tried to make small talk but I was slightly bitter and grumpy on the phone. I tried to remain civil but I did make one SORT of snappy comment. I told him all of the stuff of my mine that I left there that I’m picking up, and he mentioned paying me $50 back instead of the $100 and I told him that if he can’t pay me for the full $100 that I’m just going to take the cable modem and wireless nic card back instead. I don’t think he was really happy with me saying that.

Now all I do is just wait until I’m up in Louisville and we’ll see what happens with it. I know he mentioned that if I go over there when he’s not there, that Ian will not let me in. I don’t see what picking up my belongings has to do with wanting to even step foot into the disaster of an apartment. So I told him that he needs to just have all of my stuff in a box or whatever, that way if I have to go over there while Chris is not there, Ian or whomever is there at the moment can easily give me my shit with no problems whatsoever.

  • Wow, what just happened?

I have this odd luck with jobs. If I actually show some motiviation and go out to apply for them, I never get a call back. But when I randomly fill out an online UNICRU application at 2-3AM in the morning, I get a call back the next day. This happened with Best Buy and it just now happened with Circuit City.

I’ve got an interview on Saturday at 11AM with the store manager, so hopefully it goes good. I applied for the PC Tech job. I’m kind of confused on how I should be feeling. I admit that I’m a total BB cog, but well, okay what I want to say is just going to have to go on hold, especially if I get this job, because I don’t want to end up dooced.

Gotta go clothes shopping tomorrow though because I have absolutely nothing to wear, unless you consider a pair of capris with a hole in them, and my Best Buy polo to be proper to wear to a Circuit City interview, then I’ll wear it. 😛 But since that’s not, I just need to find a shirt to wear, and some shoes. I’ve got a pair of tan pants (eek, it’s been hot out lately though) so I’m set with that. God I hate shopping for clothes.

I’ll also be going to visit Louisville next week. I think I’m going to be leaving on Tuesday, but I’m not sure what day I’ll be coming back. I still need to work out some of the details, but hopefully all shall be good.

  • I caved in and changed things up.

Thank the new theme from smackfoo.com and 5thirtyone.com for it, since I was too lazy to try to create my own. Well not so much lazy but I’ve been busy with a few designs for clients that I didn’t have much time to share. ‘Tis really pretty so I did minimal editing. Eventually I’ll tire of the colors and change them, but for now it’s going good.

IE users beware, there might be some issues with the css positioning (especially in the footer). I also think there’s an issue with width for anyone that’ll be using 800×600 or lower. So far everything looks fine in FF though, so I think it’s good to go. Comment if you find any errors and you know how to fix them, any help is appreciated 🙂

Things are looking good right now. My grandma sent me a letter that made me feel really guilty for having put off talking to her for the past few months. She also slipped in some money for me, so that’ll definitely help me out for awhile since I’m still on the hunt to replace Best Buy.

I think I might cave in and buy a new Seagate drive so I can put linux on it. I’m not even sure if I want it to have Ubuntu, because I’ve kind of had an eye on SUSE Linux desktop edition. *drools* I don’t know though, we’ll see. I might try to get Rem to download all of my programs and burn them to my dvds, and I might just reformat my computer and put it on there, and just run Windows and whatever else in VMware. Though I’ll have to back up my new files to dvds, and use my old disk in the enclosure to transfer back over old photos, music, and website files.

  • Never too late for spring cleaning.

I’ve been getting annoyed at my site’s bloat (more so in the backbone aspect of it) so I’ve been trimming away some of the access (deactivating plugins I haven’t used yet, or will not use) and adding in some new ones (WP-Page Navi, Bread Crumb Trail) to try to spruce things up and better the navigation.

You’ll definitely see some 404’s and fuckups until I can get them sorted out. Right now I’m trying to figure out what plugin is interferring with my PHPEXEC plugin, and it’s proving rather tedious and annoying. I might end up just caving in and creating a page template for it, even though I didn’t want to go that route. *bratty*

  • Glock 23 alarm clock?

Well, looks like I’ll be offering reseller plans for sure 🙂 Now I just have to work on finishing the rest of the design for Holdfire Network so that when everything is up and running, I can put it up.

Ever since I posted my entry about going shooting with a Glock 23, I’ve gotten so many google searches being referred here. The latest one was for alarm glock clock. I can only imagine how this person imagined it to look like, or hell, how it operates.

I can see it right now. It’s a black Glock 23 that’s resting in a rubber hand holding it, and where you cock it to load the gun is where the digital clock is at–Because you know, who has patience to read an analog clock on a gun? The trigger is how you set the clock, and the alarm. The alarm is the sound of gunshots. Or maybe we’ll have some blanks come out of the gun too, to add to the effect.

Damn, that’d be an awesome alarm cock. I should patent it.

  • How well do you know someone?

Today I was visiting someone’s site, and I was just browsing through the pages of their domain to see what’s what. I came across the “about me” page and immediately I felt like I wanted to just scream from annoyance and how absurd the situation once. This individual, Meng (linked so that others are aware of his fabrications) not only took the concept of my about me page, but even use my own wording, and used it for his own about me (mirror) page.

You might not see a few similiarties to my page now, but that’s because I edited it within the past two weeks, so now I’ll reference a google cache copy of my old page, which you can view here. Notice anything now? Yeah, I’m sure you do.

Let’s actually break it down so you don’t have to thumb between two webpages to see that Meng can’t even write his own quasi auto-biography. It’s obvious because he had to copy off of me (though I should consider this as a form of flattery?) and becuase his English for the sentences/parts he added in are so godawfully horrible you’d have to rethink that he graduated from high school in 2003, and he’s currently eighteen. Another fabrication, perhaps?

What I saw that started it all was the picture in a table, with some data on the right side. Yeah, it was just copied and pasted. Talk about being a lazy ass bastard that lacks creativity.

  • XHTML, CSS and Resellers

Well, I’ve been working my butt off for the past week or so. And not in the way you probably think I have been–don’t know whether to think of that as sad or not! The “work” has been for Holdfire Network (currently went from Holdfire Webhosting to Network since I’m adding in a webdesign section). A redesign has been in progress for the past week, and it’s definitely looking good. I’m making sure it’s going to be 100% xhtml 1.0 valid with every page, as well as the css being 100% valid.

It’s proving tedious to make it compliant with all browsers. As I’m sure some of you have dealt with, Internet Explorer can be a bitch, and well, it’s definitely being a bitch right now. But hopefully I can get that knocked out by tomorrow, and only have the graphics left on the site.

Speaking of tomorrow… we might be offering resellers! I’m really excited because well, resellers are fun and I’ve noticed that at most of the message boards that I post at, alot of the people have/want resellers to host their numerous domains or friends/family. Granted, I love my shared hosting plans, but I think this is going to be awesome. Just a few steps closer to having alot more features (dedicated servers!?) and being a true web hosting (and design!) company. I’m loving the progress I’ve made since October of last year.

This is definitely something I love to do, and I’m serious about it. Once we get the ball rolling, I really want to get an office and make this a full-time job. Granted, it’s still quite aways from that, but I plan on sticking to this to get to that point, and surpass it.

So if you’re a regular visitor and you’ve wondered why the css/theme looks like poo, it’s because I started to work on it, then got heavily involved with HFNET. I might use another theme I found the other night, but I have to implement all of my plugins to work with it, and the pages as well. That’ll be fun. -shudders-
