Broken bones and a totaled car

On June 8th around 9:40pm on my way home I was in a car accident. I was turning left when I was tboned by a truck being driven by Robert Slager (Slager and Son Masonry) going 55mph.

I’d go into so much more detail but I’m typing this from my iPhone right now.

I suffered a fractured left wrist, a fractured left foot, a severely fractured right tibula and knee, and a displaced and fractured hip ball. The right side of my face had deep lacerations.

I’ve been in the hospital since the accident. Have had three surgeries for my hip so far with one of those fixing my wrist and foot fractures, and stitching my face.

In an hour and a half I’m going into my fourth surgery to fix my fractured hip. I’d write more but my tummy hurts and I’m thirsty (but I can’t eat or drink before this surgery).

  2. Oh my god. I’m so sorry to hear about your car accident. The injuries sound awful, though thank goodness you’re alive. *hugs* I hope that all of your surgeries work out well, and that you’re able to go home and recover soon!

    It originally didn’t sound like much of an accident to me when you said “turn left”, but the I remember you drive on the right 🙁

  10. Just saw this while poking around on twitter – you poor thing! I hope your infection clears up quickly so they can get your surgery done and get you healed! I can’t imagine having to spend several weeks in the hospital, but here’s hoping they’re taking very good care of you so you can recover quickly. I’ll be thinking about you!

  13. Wow. From your twitter updates it seems like you’re still in the hospital. If that’s right, going on 24 days is a long time. Your accident must have been terrible. I wish you the best of luck with recovery and rehabilitation!

  16. Best wishes to you on a speedy, and safe recovery. I’ve been following you on Twitter, since the accident. I’ve been in two accidents, but nothing near yours. Thank goodness you’re still alive, despite the horrible injuries – you sound like you’re pulling through strongly. I will be checking back on your progress.
