77 Days Left Until 2008

It’s hard to believe that in a few short months it’s going to be 2008. Normally it’s felt like each month goes by slowly, and the next year never seemed to approach. I partially blame high school for the feeling, because each day was dreaded so I’m sure that didn’t help. Now I just can’t believe that it’s already October. I swear I just remember thinking “Summer is here,” and how the thought of 2008 seemed far away.

I’m not sure what 2008 is going to have waiting for me. I’ve been debating holding off on school again, as there are times when I feel so busy during the week that I don’t want anything extra. Mark pretty much told me to stick with school, so no doubt I’ll end up listening to him as I usually do! 😛 I just feel so busy during the week. Here’s what my typical work-week looks like:
Monday – Thursday (Only difference with Friday is I have no class)

  • 9-11am: Get to work
  • 12:30pm: Go to lunch
  • 2-2:30pm: Pick up sister from school, and drop her off. Drive back to work.
  • 5:30pm: Leave work to go home
  • 6-6:20pm: Drop off laptop, pick up books, make a quick dinner.
  • 7-10pm: In class working.
  • 10:30pm-midnight: Try to get other work done, maybe chat with friends, watch tv. Bed
  • 10:30pm-2am (Thursday): At Durbin’s with my friends for drinks

There are some days when I’m really just too tired to do anything. I really don’t do much right now. Thursdays are usually the night I’ll go out, otherwise my friends know that Friday nights I like to dedicate to finishing up homework and any extra work I might have. Weekends are typically free and lately have been just hanging out with Mark doing whatever.

Other than that things have been really good. I still love work. School is so-so right now. My webdesign online course started 3 weeks early, resulting in me missing my first assignment and test. I’m really pissed off about it, but have yet to express that to the teacher. I’m finding it hard to focus on it because it’s way too fucking easy. I mean, so far I’ve “learned” how to create link, “bookmark” links, unordered lists, and DOCTYPES. Which probably explains why I have 5/12 tests done thus far.

Time to go back to coding, and sippin’ on my Jamba Juice smoothie.

  1. I always feel like the months go by slow but then i’ll look back and feel like time completely flew by.
Ah I hate being so busy, so i know the feeling. Lately i’ve been so exhausted and drained my days consist of school and sleep. I haven’t spent a good Friday night out in ages. But I definitely agree with Mark, your schooling is very important. And trust me procrastination only leads to more procrastination. My advice, just get it over with.

  2. I agree, most of the time I am working so hard (well, not hard, but working non-stop) and it is making this year fly past and deadlines are coming at me from all directions. It is hard, but just think; you have Mark and your friends there to support you. With them, you are fine.

  3. I’m still writing 2006 on things, I’ve no idea what 2008’s going to do to my brain!

I know how you feel about your course. On mine, someone recently asked what the difference between a browser and a server is. :S I’d jack it in if it a) hadn’t cost me £190 and b) wasn’t going to get me a real qualification for my CV.

  4. this year has gone by so fast for me. i cant believe 2008 is almost here already. i don’t think i’m ready for it, i feel like i’ve missed so much of 2007.

  5. @Jem – In my internet technologies class, I had this huge conversation with the substitute teacher about sitescore.org and then got onto talking about where we have our servers hosted at. Everyone else was probably wishing for us to shut up.

I try to be quiet in that class just so I’m not *that* student that knows everything. If I have any other classes like this, I’m going to try hard to test out of it.

All I know is that my class is shifting from networking/business to web design. I’m going to pwn the shit out of this section.

  6. Time has this weird way of jumping up behind you and saying, “Boo!” Your post reminded me of how near 2008 is. I can’t believe 2007 is almost over. It has gone by THAT fast?!

  7. I always associate New Year with the anniversary of when I met my boyfriend, so I can’t believe that it’s nearly 5 years!

I remember saying ‘oh wow, it’s summer’ too, in what seemed like just a few weeks ago. Saying that, a week after I said that I would have said ‘darn, it’s Autumn already’ since I didn’t have a summer at all…

Can’t wait for New Year though, I’m finally going to go to the best Hogmanay Party, ever – Edinburgh’s street party!!

  8. Nobody has time these days. Everyone is busy.
Sometimes you don’t even realize that there are some things that you don’t even have to do, you just can’t see how unimportant they really are.
When you will be 70 , you will still wonder how fast the time goes by.

  9. I can totally relate to feeling too tired to do anything! I find myself feeling that most days, even when I haven’t done anything. Maybe it’s because the time’s going by so fast, we just don’t have time to catch up with ourselves? x
