Merry Christmas

I was expecting Christmas Day to be a bit of a hassle, since things have been tense around the family (mainly due to an incident that happened with my fifteen year old sister) but things actually went smooth. I went to sleep late on on Sunday morning, around 4am to be exact. And then 4 and a half hours later I got woken up by my littlest sister, Nicolle, to come upstairs to open presents. I didn’t really roll out of bed until 9am, to which most gifts had already been opened. Watched Nicolle and Morgan open up their combined gift, which was a Nintendo Wii. It wasn’t the actual console, but just two extra controllers, wiimote skins, and two games. Mom didn’t get the console in time, and I was working when the Gamestop next to my Caribou Coffee had gotten them in. So eventually we’ll end up getting the console in the house, and I know I’ll end up plastering myself in front of the tv for long periods of time.

I told my parents that I didn’t really need anything for Christmas, just new Alpine Type R 6.5″ speakers for my front doors, and new headlights/foglights for my car, since they’re greatly needed. I ended up getting a 2007 Pug calendar (joke from dad, since lately I’ve been asking to get a pug puppy), $175 Visa Gift Card, 2 Claire’s giftcards (not sure why I got this, as I’ve never shopped at Claire’s, but maybe I’ll buy some random non-crappy jewelry), and a regifted present, which was more of a joke leading up to the real present. Dad wrapped up to Sony surround sound speakers, and underneath it was a Circuity City ad for their carfi section. I laughed that dad regifted the speakers, and then used a Circuit City ad. Either way I’m still getting some new 6.5″ which I’m excited for. For my parents I got my mom Season 1 of Lost, a facemask kit, and a Caribou Coffee french press on-the-go-mug; Dad got a BBQ grill lamp, Garlic Peppercorns, and regular peppercorns, along with some new wooden spoons, and a large omelette/pancake flipper.

From my grandparents I got the 20Q Music (Rock and Pop), $100, a stuffed animal purse that’s holding a fleece blanket, two silver necklaces, two pairs of sterling silver hoop earrings, and of as usual, Grandma gave me all of her hardcover and softcover books that she’s read, so I can read them. From my Uncle Joe I ended up getting $20. I’m not really sure what my cash is going to go towards. I kind of want to pay a few things off with it, but I’m leaning more towards getting some PC components so that way I can start to build a new computer. Though I decided to spend $56 on Newegg for a 512mb stick of memory, to just hold me over until I get my new motherboard, processor, and other tidbits. My present to them was a $50 Chilis giftcard, since they love to go out to dinner all the time.

Since I didn’t get to see Mark last night, I’m going to take him out to dinner tonight. I’m thinking TGI Fridays but I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll try out Chilis or just go to a Mexican Restaurant instead. Either way, I’m going to ensure that much cuddling and snuggling happens after we get back to his place.

Also, Holdfire Network’s design is coming along fantasticly. I’m trying to work out some IE bugs right now, with my navigation, so hopefully I can get that fixed and then finish the new content so I can have it up by the New Year.

I still have to shop.

My appointment with the orthopedic doctor went well, though it was another $20 copay. He just examined my ankle, and had me stand on it, with my other leg off the ground. I then had to put all of my weight on it, and could barely do that. So because I wasn’t able to do that, he said that because my ankle is so weak, I need to attend physical therapy. So I need to remember to call the place either tomorrow or Tuesday to get some appointments set up. He wants me to go 3 times a week for the next 4 weeks. If I have to pay for each session, I might do one a week since there’s no way I want to pay $20x3x4. Then I’ve got another follow-up appointment on the 28th of January to make sure things are healing and going great.

Other then that I have not been up to a single thing. I’ve been off from work, and will be until Tuesday. Because of this long break, I have no motivation to go back there. All of the feelings of it being so monotonous and annoying are making me want to not go back. Earlier today I ended up re-applying to Office Max, and sent in new applications to Cingular and US Cellular. I’ve got a few more places to add to that list, which I’ll get to once I get this posted.

In other news, I’ve got a new design for Holdfire Network in the works. So far I’ve got a new logo finished (that people have loved so far!) and the design is coming along perfectly. I just need to get the rest of the backbone complete and then I’ll work on redoing the content and adding new things to it. I’m really excited about it, because the people who have seen it thus far (mainly my boyfriend, close friends, and Mint Pages members.

But how I could forget the best news of all?! I’m not single anymore. Trust me, I’m about as giddy as a girl could possibly get. The one thing I was putting off asking, was this, a relationship. I was thinking of asking Mark around New Year’s Eve (if we hung out), but last night he took the initiative and asked me out last night in quite possibly the cutest way ever. So needless to say, several things were updated to show my new status: In A Relationship. WOO!

Ligaments, Schmigaments.

Today the dumbest thing happened. I sprained my ankle. Yup.

I was leaving the house to pick up my sister from school, and while I was on the last step, I put my right foot on the ground and for some reason I didn’t step on it right. All my pressure went on it and I heard five cracks and it buckled under me. The pain was excruciating to the point where I just didn’t get up off the ground and just clutched my leg and yelled out every curse word ever invented.

Needless to say I went to the ER, paid a $100 copay, only to find out that I didn’t break anything, just tore some ligaments. I’ve still have to wear a mobilizer until Friday morning when I go to my orthopedic appointment.

Because of this I’m now off from work until Tuesday of next week. I surely hope that by then I can put pressure on it, and stand for six or more hours, since that’s all I can do at work.

Ringtones galore.

It’s 3:40am and while I should be sound asleep, I’ve been making ringtones for my phone, the Samsung SGH-D807. I’m so glad that I’m an intarweb nerd, because if I would’ve paid for the 16 MP3s I just made, I would’ve wasted away $39.84.

The other day my USB cable came in for the phone (damn OEM parts!) so I went and downloaded Samsung’s PC Stupio 3.0 for my model. Though up until today I haven’t really fiddled around with it too much, but needless to say that I now have all my camera phone pictures on my computer (some from June!) as well as video clips I had taken (that were essentially deleted upon realizing how useless they were.)

To make the MP3 clips, I downloaded MP3 Workshop XP 1.6, which is freeware and did the job perfectly. I had a few other programs like DataPilot Universal Kit (the UI sucked), and Xingtone Ringtone Maker (would’ve been perfect if I had web access!) but since I have no txt capabilities or intarwebs on the phone, I just stuck to seperate programs to sync and edit MP3s.

Today was a lazy day. Ended up watching tv/reading for a bit, and for the first time in months, I downloaded an obscene amount of albums. Bands ranged from Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Bane, A Wilhelm Scream, Damien Rice, to KT Tunstell, Terror and 80s dance music. I also need to remember to finish organizing my Music folder, because there’s been a lot of doubles and empty folders from when I transferred over files from the iPod to my computer using iDump.

Ps, I assure you that this post is not a paid post, despite all of the software drops and whatnot… I really did make ringtones tonight! 😛

All I want for Christmas Is You

Normally I’m quite the Scrooge around December, but once it nears Christmas Eve/Day, I get the urge to bake cookies, play Christmas music and god knows what else. I’m sure I’ll end up baking on Monday, my day off, but I’m not sure what yet, so I’ve been scouring the internet for various recipes to try out. I usually get bored once I actually make the batter, so I’m sure I won’t even bother with cookie cutters. As far as music goes, I downloaded A Santa Cause 2, and have been obsessing over Dave Melillo’s version of “All I Want For Christmas Is You“.

With all this non-Scroogeness you’d think I would’ve gotten my Christmas shopping done with, but the sad thing is that I haven’t even started yet. I get paid on the 22nd, so I’m quite sure that I will be shopping on the 24th, since I only work 6-10am, which means that I would already be up and ready. I don’t even mind shopping on Christmas Eve for some reason. I guess I’ve been so used to my dad shopping on Eve, that I like to do it too. Doesn’t feel last minute, because I generally am able to purchase everything that I want to.

Yesterday I worked, instead of going to Q101’s Twisted 12 to see Rise Against. When I was originally going to buy tickets, they had sold out (because of My Chemical Romance, so I didn’t request last night off. Around 12:30pm, Agata, a girl that I used to work with a few years ago, called me up to say they had an extra ticket, and wanted to go ahead and give it to me. Needless to say I didn’t take it, because I figured I was the only Shift Supervisor to work last night. Turns out I worked with Angelica which means that I could’ve called in Tony (who would’ve taken my shift!) to cover it, and I would’ve been able to go. Tears ensued… No not really 😉

Other then that, last night was pretty busy. I ended up walking out with $14 in tips, which has been the most our store has seen. The other day I barely walked out with $2, which is probably the worst. I’m sure it’s due to the Holidays and various other Scrooges out there that won’t part with their 3 cents from their $1.97 purchase. I’m still looking for another job. I decided yesterday that I am going to get off my arse and apply to Google. I should have done it the first time I was given the opportunity.

This entry will kind of be a bit jumpy, but deal with it. Things with Mark are still fantastic. I haven’t asked him about where “we’re” going yet. I’m not sure why I just can’t muster up the courage to ask him, so I really need to just compose an e-mail and send it to him. Because I know that I can’t go on without him really knowing that I want. Other then that, I’m pretty happy with where my life is right now. Oh, but Christmas Day will prove to be even better! Because I will be able to contain my Wii Envy–which only means one thing! =D
