I’m not sure what’s up.

I almost had this entire weekend off if I didn’t have to work 5-1pm on Friday and 6-2pm Sunday at Caribou Coffee. Needless to say I tried to enjoy it as much as possible. Friday didn’t go as we had originally planned. This girl Aletsa was supposed to drive us downtown to McFadden’s, since she was our DD, but unfortunately her car apparently had some issues so her and her friend Seth didn’t go out. I was pretty annoyed and pissed since I was looking forward to going but of course something always has to happen with plans be it mine or Amy’s.

After that we pretty much drove around, went to a bowling alley but decided against it and then just drove around looking for a place to chill that had a bar. We ended up settling on Bud’s Sports Place IV and after that we just went home–pretty exciting, wasn’t it?

Saturday I spent most of my night trying to recoup and sleep since I had been up most of the previous day. Later on that evening I ended up going to see Jackass 2 with my friend Mark. After the movie we had departed our ways, but I was kind of annoyed that I didn’t try to ask to hang out after it, so I called him and asked if he was still out in the area, and said to meet me at Steak and Shake to hang out for a bit more. That’s the 2nd time in awhile I’ve grown some “balls” to approach a guy be it to give him my phone number or something simple like asking to hang out some more.

Either way I’m trying not to act a certain way, because I just don’t know how to approach the situation. Yeah, I do like the guy, and whatnot, but I don’t know what’s next. I haven’t asked, and for some reason I’m too chicken shit to ask. I keep thinking that maybe I just shouldn’t ask because it would just make this complicated and I don’t want that right now. So who the fuck knows what’s next with me liking him. So whatever with that.

I get paid again this week from Caribou, and I still need to head out to Best Buy to pick up my check from Friday.. Oh shit and speaking of Best Buy, I forgot to meet up with my friend Brian at 11am. Whoops : I honestly didn’t remember and now I’m going to have to hear it from him. Oh, and that reminds me that the guy Dan, whom I gave my number to, told Brian that I can be pretty cool sometimes, but that I can also be weird. And I’m thinking to myself: “What the fuck is wrong with this kid? He’s the one who says ‘I Like cupcakes’ every 5 minutes and various other stupid sexual innuendos.” I’m not sure if it’s just bad luck with guys I talk to, or if it’s all Best Buy guys (haha, which would lump my friend Mark into that category, since he works at BB too.)

T.G.I.F.

Today is my best friend Amy’s 22nd birthday, and to celebrate a bunch of us are heading downtown to McFaddens. Even though the attire is casual, I was given the strict directions of not being able to wear a hoodie, t-shirt and jeans–That I must wear something girly and cute. Normally I’d scoff at such a thing and still wear my usual “fump” wear, but I actually went out yesterday and bought an outfit. I’m feeling buyer’s remorse, but I know I can’t return these items to get money back; They’re mine now!

I bought a pair of Apple Bottoms, turqoise halter top, a pair of black boots, a small black shrug jacket, some silver bangles, and a silver star ring. All of that was about $70, much thanks to Amy for letting me use her discount for all of the above.

Other than that, I really haven’t been up to too much lately. I’ve been having some issues with Best Buy that’s really discouraged me, so I’ve only gone in one day to work this week. Hopefully I can have a talk with my supervisor to get a schedule arranged, and to get my situation fixed, so that I no longer feel that my problem is being pushed aside and ignored for a later date.

Oh, how could I absolutely forget this little golden nugget. I got a speeding ticket yesterday, and I am beyond pissed. I was taking my sister, and three other kids home from school when I got pulled over in Tinley Park while I was turning to go southbound on 80th avenue. The cop claims I was going 50 in a 30, when I knew I was going 35 or slower, since I thought the speed limit was 25 mph. So then he tells me that he’ll give me the ticket for going 40 in a 30. While he’s writing up my ticket I realize that not once did my radar go off, not ONCE. Because I pay attention to it, and I make sure that if it picks up on K[A] band, I make sure to pay attention.

I was also curious as to why he felt like he was letting me off the hook by changing the speed I was apparently going. I wasn’t going to contest it since I honestly thought my license was suspended, so I didn’t want to piss him off and have him change his mind in case he was letting me off the hook for it being suspended. Either way I’ve got a $75-$135 ticket to pay. $75 if I plead guilty and take the point on my license (ha, like that point is going to put a dent in how awful it is already) or pay $135 with no point on my license, but I plead guilty and go to traffic safety school. According to Amy I apparently won’t get approved for the school, so I might as well just take the point and pay the lesser amount since my record will be cleared in May when I turn 21.

Holdfire Network is nearing completion.

After having put the redesign for Holdfire Network on the backburner, I have brought it back alive and on the highest flame possible. I’ve got nearly all coding aspect of the design complete, and I just have some finishing touches to make on the shared/reseller pages, as well as updating the About section, and getting a promotional graphic up for the main index, since it’ll be Holdfire’s one year anniversary in 12 days 🙂 I’m so happy that it’s lasted this long.

In other news, I’ve been working more on this site than I have in the past year (at least it feels that way.) This new theme isn’t 100% made by me, but rather a tweaked version of Kino and Hemingway Bright (credits in the footer.) I also added some more plugins to enhance the performance and overall navigation of the website, so that I didn’t have to create templates for each page and subpage; If you’re curious about what plugin does what, feel free to leave a comment about it or check out the plugins page to read through the list of what’s used here.

Tomorrow I’m also getting my hair dyed; About time too since it’s been almost an entire year since I last had my hair done. It’s really obvious too, at least to me, since the black is fading out and you can see a light brown under it. It’s not too bad, since it looks two-tone, but I have to see me every day so I’d at least like one thing to look attractive on me if I can’t have the whole package 🙂

Time to finish getting ready for work though, and hopefully when I get home later on tonight, I can conquer that sonofabitch wireless network, so I can be online 24/7–or not. But I’d like to access the internet in my room, on my computer, as opposed to having to use my dad’s laptop (which is nice: windows xp, 17″ widescreen, 1GB memory, 80GB hd).

Oh yeah, for those of you that were interested in trying out payperpost, if you want to refer me, that’d be fantastic. My e-mail for there is j.miskowicz at holdfire dot net.

Wireless Networking is cake, right?

I like to consider myself to be competent with all things related to computers. Be it hardware, software or setting up a wireless network. Yeah, well, the past few days make me think otherwise.

While I was living in Louisville, KY I’ve helped set up a few wireless networks for some friends of mine. Some have been 2-4 computers, a VoIP, and an xbox, and others have just been making sure a WAP was set up so that noone else could mooch off of their connection. I’ve even done my own before and never had any problems.

The other day I finally get ahold of a Linksys router, just a regular G since I wasn’t needing anything with amazing speeds or range. I hooked it up as I have in the past, and threw aside the “install” cd because I know it’ll prove useless to me. Well, I try to log into 192.168.1.1 and … nothing. So I think, okay maybe I fucked up something no problem. Yup, same issue again.

And again. and again. and again. I’ve got DSL (ugh) and I remember that I might have to put the modem into bridge mode, but of course, I can’t get into it without the information that was supposedly on some yellow sticker on the modem. Considering my parents have had this modem for a few years now I knew for a fact I would not find such a thing on this piece of shit. So I’m hoping that maybe I don’t have to bridge it, so I just go ahead and try to set it up again.

I try to access the lan IP wirelessly, hardwired, and through ESP. Nothing works at all, so finally out of frustration I just unplug it and give up. Last night I ended up wiring it to my desktop sans a modem, to see if I could configure the router and what do you know I was finally able to go ahead and set it up to PPPOE and get in a username/password.

Now the new problem arises. I’m able to connect to the internet hard wired with my parents laptop, and the wireless network, yeah that part is pretty amazing. Hell, I even went ahead and set up file and print sharing since I was fucking around with it. But now I can’t access the internet at all from my desktop, going wireless. I’m seriously about to shoot my brains out while the router is watching me, because you know, it has feelings too.

My mom joked around about calling the Geek Squad because you know, I love the guys and am pretty obsessed with it. But I’ll be damned if I have them come out to my house, knowing I work in computers at their store, to set this up. But I’m pretty tempted to do it… I just don’t want them knowing where I live *rolls eyes*

Aside from this, new layout and I’m putting off going to get my hair dyed, as well as putting off Best Buy. I don’t know why I have no motivation to go into work there. It’s not that I’m calling off it’s just that I’m not in the system (technicalities due to the fact that I’m a rehire or something) so I’m not on the schedule, which means I can go in when I want to… And the past few days I haven’t. I hope I get out of that funk, because I love working at Best Buy.

Have a Mint.

Since I’ve been really into my detailed stats as of late, I decided to Have A Mint. It’s a really awesome stats that is not only going to be able to fulfill my dreams of statsism, but is also appealing to the eye.

If you don’t feel like paying the $30 license fee to try out Mint, there’s an alternative you can look into. Slimstat is similar to Mint, but without the option to add peppers (plug ins) and it’s a bit more simple, but it still does the trick.

Lucky for me I’ve now got both to check up on, though my slimstat for aow hasn’t been behaving well after I switched to my server; I’ve been using the wp-slimstat plugin for wordpress.

In other news, I’ve been working on a new layout (or theme, whichever you’d prefer) to unleash here since I’ve pretty much relied on using premade wordpress themes. This one is proving to be quite the bitch, so it might not turn out to be how I originally wanted, but it’ll be something nonetheless.
